2009/2010 Action Plan

Corporate involvement and investment is critical to improving the region’s health, prosperity and general quality of life. To this end, the RBC focuses on several key regional assets as conduits for member participation.

  • The Regional Business Council invests in the long-term growth of regional assets such as Forest Park and the institutions within the Zoo-Museum District
  • The RBC wholeheartedly endorses the United Way of Greater St. Louis as a cost-effective and efficient way to support more than 200 health and social service organizations
  • Social Venture Partners, the RBC’s signature entrepreneurial program, focuses on building capacity for select area non-profits by providing funds and hands-on expertise

Forest Park Forever. The RBC recognizes the asset we have in Forest Park. We work with Forest Park Forever and the region’s elected officials to ensure that Forest Park, one of St. Louis’ crown jewels, is protected for generations to come.

Art & Culture. In recognition of the importance of the many arts organizations and cultural institutions in our region, the RBC supports the following cultural institutions:

  • St. Louis Art Museum
  • Missouri Botanical Garden
  • Missouri Historical Society
  • St. Louis Science Center
  • Saint Louis Zoo

United Way of Greater St. Louis. Since 2001, the RBC has raised more than $50 million in contributions for the United Way, in support of more than 200 health and social service organizations serving our region. In 2007, the RBC reached a record high in giving and participation in the Alexis de Tocqueville Society, Charmaine Chapman Society and the Women’s Leadership Giving Initiative.

  • RBC’s Women’s Leadership Giving Initiative (WLGI) is a unique way to value the contributions of women, while increasing the diversity of donor involvement for the United Way. In 2007, more than 2,000 women in RBC-member companies contributed nearly $4 million to the United Way as a part of WLGI.
  • Pump Up Your Campaign is a collection of successful strategies to bolster RBC member companies’ United Way campaign efforts. To read more about these successful strategies please click here.

St. Louis Social Venture Partners (SVP) is a capacity-building program of the RBC that provides both funds and hands-on resources to build the long-term sustainability of regional non-profits through the effective application of entrepreneurial business practices. Since 2001, SVP has given nearly $1.3 million in monetary grants and in-kind services to fifteen non-profit organizations. To learn more about St. Louis Social Venture Partners, please click here.
